Semi-State & Community Night

The morning of Semi-State the parents and community came out to send off the students in style. While I was waiting I found Rebekah's marching band name.

If you look closely you can see Rebekah totally ignoring her parents.

We found the section sign.

After we cheered and sent them off we got in the car and went down to Pike to watch the show.

We found Kelly and Ryan and were able to sit with them. I had them take a selfie so Rebekah knew they were there.

We also invited Sarah and Hannah. It was good seeing them as well.

Some pictures from the event:

We left before the results but eventually Rebekah tested me the good news.

Because they were going on to State, the marching band had one more community night to send them off. I took copious pictures.

We also had some friends come and support Rebekah! But I didn't find them until afterwards....

Rebekah's Birthday Week

The night before her birthday Don stayed up and put the traditional birthday decorations up. This year I went with a marching band theme, complete with flags containing wonderful things about Rebekah.

But I believe the birthday preparations started with Rebekah asking if we could bring cookies to her jazz band rehearsal since it was on her birthday. But not just any cookies. Mel's cookies and cream cookies. They're somewhat of a beast to make. But it's her birthday so, wanting to make them as fresh as possible I spent the day in the kitchen.

I got to bring them into her classroom since it was after hours. Couldn't resist taking a picture of the back of the birthday girl.

And then I spent time on the cake. I didn't have a vision in mind before I started. I grabbed what sprinkles we had and went to work.

Hand placed every one of these sprinkles, from the note heads to the stems. Added the star and stick boarder at the end.

Then I "wrapped" the gifts. Heaven bless those bags I can recycle year after year.

Grammy came over and brought balloons.

Don made hamburgers and grammy brought potato salad. We ate and then moved to the cake portion.

Rebekah said it was the best cake decorations I've done. And it tasted good too.

Then time for presents.

Posing with all her gifts.

All the cards.

But wait, we're not done yet! She had a few friends over after marching band practice on Friday, for pizza and cupcakes.

Hard to believe this one is 14! Had a great week celebrating the Bee!
