Don's Birthday

I asked Rebekah what she wanted to get daddy for his birthday. She said, "cake." I asked what else she wanted to get her daddy for his birthday. After much thought she said, "sprinkles...?" Ironically, she knows her father's wishes very well. A day before the event the cake was made. Chocolate with chocolate frosting. And sprinkles.

Reka helped with the sprinkles

And since we don't need a lot of cake, I turned the rest of the batter into cupcakes
Reka paused the decorating to taste the said sprinkles

And then there was the taste test
because no 2 year old can wait a whole day before eating cake

That day the present my mom sent Don arrived
And again, there was the taste test, cause what 2 (or 52) year old can wait

The next day was Don's birthday. He knows how to make an entrance and made us wait all day for him. He even planned a business meeting on the way home from work to make his day longer. Silly husband. I'll have to talk to that man.

But finally, he arrived. Reka was very happy.

First thing she did was show him his presents
(Special thanks to mom Walker for doing all the present / card work)

He got some really nice frames to display all his degrees from mom and some fun size Butterfinger candy bars and a card from Reka. Here's the card from her:

Decorated with her own hand

Think she had help with the letters....

We had a nice dinner of Sloppy Joes, corn, and fries. All of Don's favorites. Then there was the eating of the cake.

I got the cake and ice cream ready for Don to start dishing out.

By the time I got back with the dishes, Reka was licking the lid.

And who can blame her? It is Blue Bell.

The eating of the cake

Happy birthday husband!

Easter 2014

Before I start, I pause to say how nice it is to have my husband back on Saturdays. Tax season is truly something I will have to get use to.

For Easter this year we thought we would take advantage of the festivities provided and therefore we took Rebekah to an Easter egg hunt at our church. Mom asked for pictures so I brought my camera. However Rebekah was one of the youngest participants and I didn't want to stop to take a picture while the other older kids stole her eggs, or "found her eggs for her" (yeah, kind of defeats the purpose of her said hunt, but thanks kids). So when she found her last of the allotted eggs I got these pictures:

Her stash

Then we went in to show dad the spoils

And have a peep

After the initial sugar rush was over, Don took Rebekah out to see the bunny. While there, a boy kindly hid a few more eggs for Rebekah to find.

The next day was Sunday. Mom bought Rebekah a new Easter dress.

We had to get a picture

I figured we should make the photo shoot a family affair

Don finally joined in to make it complete

Then Don and Reka went down for the traditional Easter morning homemade sweet roll

Nothing better then snuggling with daddy
Unless it be snuggling with daddy and eating a sweet roll

That afternoon we had a nice Easter dinner outside on our back deck. We then followed the dinner with a family walk to the park. A beautiful Easter weekend.

Utah Trip: Odds and Ends

On the trampoline

The infamous "green park"

At the green park - she climbed the rock wall all by herself!

She also climbed this all by herself.
Scared me every time.

Loves her race cars, where ever she can find it

Aunt Jamie Jewelry

Gift to Rebekah from my dear friend Pamela Morgan

Lunch with Miss Sharee
(Not only did she tell me I looked like I lost weight,
but she paid for lunch AND distracted Rebekah so I could eat in peace.
Best Lunch Date EVER!)

McDonald's play house with Abby
Bless Abby for running through it with my little girl. Over and over and over again.

Bottom of McDonald's play house

Reka found some Rudolph ears

Since there are little to no pictures of me, thought I'd add this one that Reka took...

My wonderful niece and nephew
I love how they love my daughter

Reka wanting lunch

My rental car
If I read it right, I logged over 10 hours in there.

Well hello Hollywood!

Potato head with Aunt Jamie

Yum, fudge bar

Reka's pun
"Toe Trucks"

Reka with Aunt Shelly

And finally
The plan ride home with Frank the Frog by her side.

The day before we came home from Utah Rebekah started acting a little off. Just not quite herself. She got very clingy, whinny, and would cry much. She seemed very tired. The day we went home she was really tired - took a nap around 11, which if you know Reka is highly unusual. She fell asleep in the car on the way to the airport, and then again on my shoulder on the plane ride home. Not Reka.

We got her home and she continued to act off. Diarrhea soon followed. Then much crying, a fever and a face rash. We took her to the Dr on Monday who ordered me to take Reka to the hospital for a blood test STAT.

So Reka and I had to go through a blood test. The nurse told me I could stay in the waiting room while they took Reka if I wanted. I of course declined. Who would do that? Seriously! I couldn't abandon my little girl. Don looked up what the Dr suspected and got very concerned.

But good news, the blood test turned out fine. But Rebekah is just now feeling better. Being sick is hard on the kid but wow. So thankful my little girl has been for the most part healthy.

But back to the Utah trip: thanks family and everyone else I was able to see!

Abby & Sam Fun

The first thing Rebekah did when we got to Daniel's house was ask Sam and Abby to play with her. She loves these guys! Here's a collection of play time pictures over the two weeks we were there.

Throwing balls down stairs. Always fun.

Rebekah loves her construction vehicles. Tow trucks are not far behind.
So many things got stuck in the mud while we were there....

Meal times are always fun

As well as the occasional interactive show
Love Abby and Sam for playing along with my girl

Not the best of Reka but she had so much fun in Sam's room

Climbing the slide

Knuckles

She was always one step behind Abby

And had so much fun with her!

Inside or outside

She had such a good time with them!

Wants to be just like them

So glad we were able to come.
Can't wait to come back!
