Rebekah wanted to decorate cookies again. Luckily father's day was just around the corner. I texted Jessica and Clara to asked if they would join us. They said yes!
I took Rebekah to Walmart to pick out the decorations. Turned out we met Don in Greenfield for lunch and there was a Walmart there. While we were inside it decided to storm. Bad. We were stuck and Rebekah was scared by the sound the storm made (rain on that roof, thunder, etc.). Once it let up I had to carry her and the bags to the car. In all the confusion I left a bag at the store. I called them and they said I would just have to bring in the receipt and I could get my bag. But Greenfield isn't right down the street. I talked them into letting Don pick it up (they were NOT happy). Bless Don's heart: he was on his way home already but turned around to get it. I thanked him profusely and he replied something about his cookies being in jeopardy. Whatever the motive I was grateful.
Now we just had to make the cookies. I made a half of batch and they turned out a little stickier than usual. Mom said it may have been the summer humidity. Either way they cooked alright.
Mom was heading out to Frank's, so Rebekah made a pre-decorating-cookie-party-cookie for Frank.
Then Clara made it over. They had good times.
Rebekah's (and my) finished product. (Thank Ms Anna for the tie cutter!)
Of course Rebekah had to taste them to make sure they were just right.
The next day I had to make pie for church. The Relief Society were setting up treat for the men on father's day. However, Don doesn't like pie. So I decided to bend the rules and make cake in pie clothing.
There was left over batter so we made cupcakes. Rebekah loving provided sprinkles.
Yummy yummy sprinkles.
Somewhere between there we made daddy some home made father's day cards.
And somewhere in-between we found time to learn a new song. The first time I heard this song was while Don and I were dating. He was going to be in Utah with me during the Indy 500 and my brother Joseph offered to record the race for Don so he could see the highlights. One of the highlights was the song sung by Jim Nabors. Don was almost in tears. So if Jim could do it, Rebekah could too. When I was looking up the words to this song I learned it is "not the Indiana state song but it may as well be."
Still a work in progress but she's getting it!
Then we took pictures.
Lots of pictures:
Love a fun mirror selfie:
Part of Don's father's day didn't come until the 26th of June. Mom gave me a coupon for a photo book from Shutterfly. I made it a happy father's day, we love daddy edition. He loved it. Said it made him feel loved and he almost cried in a good way. Yay! Happy father's day Don!
