My Turn

When I was taking pictures of Don and Rebekah at the park I realized that I don't have too many pictures of me and Rebekah. Not fair! Sunday morning I decided to rectify that issue. Mom was home and I asked her to take a few pictures.

My little girl is more than half my size. And she's only two!

She loves to give snuggles. Which is good, 'cause I love to receive snuggles.

And here is my little girl in her fluffy dress. She is truly beautiful inside and out.

Special thanks to the Gill's for the dress. I love hand-me-downs!

Saturday Morning at Fall's

One Saturday morning after a quick trip to the garden, I talked Don into stopping at Fall's park (aka the red park). There was much of both. After some play at the playground we explored the rest of the park.

Rebekah loves playing in water, however yucky the water may be....

So glad we got to spend a little family time.

Garden Update

Not sure the last garden update I did. But a few weeks ago I was weeding and noticed....

We had radishes!

Don was there and he enjoyed them.

A few days ago I picked the lettuce

Saturday I went back over to weed. I brought my husband and little girl. And my camera:

Our tomatoes have sure gotten big. There are even a few little tomatoes growing!
You can also see our peppers with a few little peppers too.
(The outside clumps are suppose to be marigolds but they haven't blossomed yet.)

Close up of the non-blooming-marigolds

But Reka found a flower. She had great hopes that this would tide me over until they did bloom.

Back to the garden.

My brussel sprouts are getting out of hand....

As are my poll beans. Kind of reminds me of kudzu down south. I had to pull them off the pea cages!

Peas
(you can see where my lettuce once was)

Carrots

New lettuce, spinach, and radish growth
(There's a little clump of radishes growing to the left of the radishes. That's where Reka "helped" after I did the initial planting. But the mixed up radishes were kind enough to come up anyway.)

And this is the community eggplant of which I'm stewart.

And speaking of Reka....
Remember when she wanted to plan her own garden? I gave her some peas to plant.

Here they are now.

She's so proud.

Recently we went to Frank and mom's garden out on Frank's land to help weed. It looked so good!

Zucchini up front, corn behind. Tomato and beans in the back.

A view from the back
(I think that's Frank and Don by the golf cart)

The garden came complete with a stray cat that terrorized mom. Reka tried to be friendly, that is until I asked Don to put a stop to it.

So excited to see things growing. We're gonna be eating well!

Father's Day

The celebration began the Thursday before father's day when Rebekah and I came home from reading time with this:

She strategically picked and placed each sticker for her "tallest dad." I love reading time days!

The celebration continued Saturday morning when the library hosted "donuts with daddy." I had signed Don and Rebekah up weeks ago. Rebekah was very excited. Don was too. It's been a long time since he had a donut and one on one daughter time would be great too. My only concern was the two of them fighting over the last bite.

I had asked Don what he wanted for his father's day dinner.

His reply:

So Saturday night we ordered Pizza King and Don was in heaven.

It's an Indiana thing. Ask any native Hoosier. They will tell you it's the best.

It magically turns Don into a teenager

Rebekah was quite happy too.

Saturday night I also made....

 Father's day sweet rolls

They were suppose to be a surprise for Sunday morning, but seriously, how do you hide something like that? It's not like it takes 5 minutes to make. All the mixing, the rolling, the yummy smells.... But they were greatly appreciated either way.

The Sunday morning partaking of the sweet rolls
(couldn't get one of Don - this was just after rolling out of bed)

There were cards and presents. I discovered after 4 years of marriage, I really don't know anything about buying clothes for my husband. I also discovered this in not entirely my fault. I bought him 3 shirts thinking he'd maybe like one of them, which he did. I then asked about the others:
Me: "How'd I do with the shirts?"
Don: "Great."
Me: "What about that red one?"
Don: "I liked them all."
M: "Really? You kind of gave a different look at the red one..."
D: "Well, maybe not that type of color."
M: (By the way, he has a red shirt that he wears...) "So, lighter? Darker?"
D: "Maybe just not Red."
M: "You don't like red?"
D: "No, not really."
M: "So, let's try this again: How'd I do with the shirts? 'Not well' would be how you should reply..."
I then explained I'm totally fine with the "not well" reply. I really just want to please him. But how can I please him if I don't know what I'm getting right or wrong? SIGH....

Then there was the yearly father's day picture.

Rebekah wasn't feeling well so she was mildly grumpy. This was the best "smile" shot we got.

Then there was church and everything involved. We came home to left over Pizza King for dinner. Rebekah took a slight nap. After she was done, there was the father's day nascar race.

Rebekah snuggling with Don while watching the race. What better father's day gift?

Dad Time

Rebekah sure loves daddy time. A few days ago it was just cool enough to build a fire.

Reka loved snuggling with her dad.

And what fire would really be a fire without a marshmallow of some sort?

Yes, that is a peep left over from Easter.

Mmmmm... peeps....

Then Don and Reka played with a dollar store airplane I found.
(Reka is holding some Aloe Vera
we may or may not have had a certain adult burned in the roasting process)

Reka would love to go retrieve the airplanes for her daddy

She handed it to him in several different ways.

Think we need to get a dog....
