Kayla's Wedding

The big event this month was Don's daughter getting married on July 21.  It was a wonderful ceremony.  Kayla made a very beautiful and radiant bride.  


I tried to be camera lady and capture the event for my sweet husband.

This was the initial test shot to make sure the camera is working, otherwise Don would have smiled bigger (he just LOVES it when I take pictures of him)... By the way, Kayla picked out the ties for the wedding.  It was either pink or green.  Don just couldn't get himself to wear pink... so green it is!


This is the Jordan River Temple where Kayla Sue Walker was married to Joshua Allen Young for Time and All Eternity.

An Anniversary Weekend

I didn't plan it this way, but it seems that sometimes we will get a three day weekend for our anniversary.  YAY!  


Me, still recovering from the very nasty cold, couldn't do too much.  However, I wanted to make our one year anniversary special.  I planned on making a nice romantic dinner out of what we had on hand.  


But let me back up.  The day started with an early morning knock on the door.  Don had sent me a beautiful plant!  Actually, 5 plants in one.  This way he knew I'd have a much better chance of keeping at least one of them alive.  

He also sent a card that said very sweet and sappy things.  It was a very wonderful way to start out our anniversary weekend.  (The glasses in the picture are ones we used for the wedding.  I figured it would be a good tradition to use them every year.)

About 4:30 I began to prepare dinner.  Starting with cookies.  These are very special cookies.  The first cookies I made for Don.  (I must pause and thank Courtney for her assistance in learning how to make these.  Just think if on our first date / meeting Don didn't like the cookies I made for him!  Who knows where I'd be now!)

Next, a dinner of potatoes.  (It took Don over 2 hours to get home because of NY traffic.  So, in my anxiousness, I took pictures of everything...)

The next day we went out to Port Jefferson.  Don found a little park and we walked out on the beach on watched the sailboats.

Then we went to find some food.  We found this little Irish Pub "Tara Lee's" and ordered roast beef sandwich on rye and french fries.  Baby wanted french fries....  


Don has this way of "exploring" and finding wonderful spots to see.  About a year ago he found this beautiful beach.  He decided to try and find it again but had no luck.  He did, however, find this beautiful park.

And this picture is for all you people who keep saying, "When are we gonna see a picture of you and your baby bump...?"

The rest of the weekend was wonderful too.  I have such a good time being with Don.  He is truly my best friend.  Sometimes I ponder how great the tenderness of God, that He could bring us together - Don in New York, me in Utah, so far apart, and yet both searching for a dearest friend.  And yet, I know God works through people and without you people I wouldn't be where I am or who I am today.  I owe so much to so many.  Thank you all for helping me become the woman I needed to be, to be prepared to meet my Dearest Don.

Bird Watching

As many of you know I've been a sick lately.  Yes, I hear you: "You've been sick since February..." but this was actually not pregnancy related.  Just a very nasty cold.  Lost my voice and everything.  Couldn't do much, however, the neighbors have this bird feeder that animal life like to come fight over.  Don and I were sitting outside watching and he got this great action shot.
