A Quarantine Weekend

I've been making bread while at home. Rebekah looked through the recipe book and found a french bread recipe. Turned out pretty nice. This is pre-baking.

We've been watching the Columbus Zoo home safari programs and Saturday was penguins. Rebekah made this little guy in preparation for said program.

Snail mail letters are back in fashion. As of today Rebekah has sent out a total of 7. Grammy is a trooper and has sent her a few.

The lot across the street is under construction so we occasionally check it out.

Turns out they are putting in glass blocks. (I have this strange love for glass blocks and point them out whenever I see them. I even see them as good signs, like when the doctor doing my emergency root canal had them in his office. Love me some glass blocks.)

The quarantine has changed our daily life dramatically. It's not all bad though: life has slowed down, we've been having family dinners, more quality time together, and we've got to see the priesthood in action in our home as Don blesses the sacrament for us.

Not saying I want this to continue, just trying to see the good. One quarantine week down!

Getting Use to Quarantine

We've done our best to keep busy. If you notice in the top corner you'll see sports equipment. Yep, that's how crazy things are: me delving into sports. But we are also delving into art. That's a Rebekah trace.

Then we colored it to make it look like her.

We've done a lot of phone calls lately. Rebekah is in full phone relaxation mode.

It's been nice having Don home. Rebekah is loving the basketball training.

Don loves the training and the teasing.

Then Wednesday I woke up to find an earthquake hit Utah. My family was okay but my brother in his basement apartment thought he was going to be smooshed. Seriously. I lost my ability to contain my emotions for a few minutes. But then I saw this - from a show I use to watch with said brother - and I smiled.

Rebekah has been a trouper helping me with food.

Oh! And the gardening supplies came! Even though I ordered before the outbreak I thought it was going to not come until the outbreak subsided, but it came! And does my heart good. Rebekah and Don put them together.

I bought two of these. Hoping to grow a squash plant.

I was so happy I made cookies.

 Rebekah highly approved.

We wrote letters and delivered them to mailboxes.

And we went on bike rides and looked for signs of spring.

Cleaning Out the Art Room

One of my goals for spring break was to clean some of Rebekah's areas. The art room / office is extremely difficult because Rebekah wants to keep everything. However, this time she informed me these were ones that as long as I had a picture we could recycle the hard copy. It sounds harsh but one cannot keep everything. These are tender to my heart for they all show Rebekah's personality.

I have Rebekah here with me so, in Rebekah's own words:

It's an owl that I drew for my mom because she likes owls and it was my first word.

The first one is a cat-toon. It's really just a cat walking. The second one is a giraffe with really long legs.

So I made a frozen 2 crown. It has Christoff on the left side and Anna on the right. Elsa, my favorite character is in the middle. I drew a star but the sticker covered it up.

That is a crown that is too big for me.

That is a poster that I painted to remind people of friendship, glitter, and colors.

Okay, so that is a cupcake that me and my school friends made for my Elsa doll that I was getting. I have it now, but it took a long time to get here.

Same thing except it's a table.

That is two unicorns on a rainbow with star.

That is dad with long hair, glasses, and on his shoulder that is me. Under that is Paul in the army. That is a house and mom shouting dinner time.

That is my Miss Kitty on my blanket and we are soon going to get her mom Big Kitty.

I used an old toothpaste box for this one. I sprinkled glitter on it, wrote I love you, and the best part about it is the glitter.

That is a rainbow with fireworks and at the bottom there is a mishap.

I have no idea what that is.

That is pretty rainbows without the normal colors.

This is a drawing of school in 100 years. On the left you see a castle, that is my castle. On the right you see a building with a "P." That "P" means police station. That is where all the kids that did something wrong go to learn their lesson. As they say, three strikes and you're out.

That is the sun, four planets and a blue rainbow. I have no idea why I drew that blue rainbow.

That is the Arendelle palace that I made when I was making a movie. I made Christoff, I think I made Olaf, I made Elsa, and last but not least Anna.
